ShooFeeTV, a free online Arabic television guide, has officially been launched as a useful resource for TV fans, allowing them access to the program grids for the 120 most popular channels, carried by
NileSat and ArabSat. ShooFeeTV has been under development for some time now, recently going public with a beta while they ironed out the final details before this release. But they’ve already been syndicating content to Maktoob’s TV Guide section well before the launch.

Mafgod, is a really simple service from Saudi Arabia, with the aim of helping people find their lost or
stolen items. For the time being, the service is only available for users in Saudi Arabia, and only for lost or stolen mobile phones. Expansion to other types of goods and other countries should be part of future plans. The way it works right now for mobile phones is really simple; users can sign up freely to the service, and input details about their mobile phones and include their phone’s serial number; creating an online database of mobile phones and their owners.
Watwet, the Arab social networking and micro-blogging platform, launched in December 2007
by TootCorp, has just gone live with a really cool new design. The new design reflects the maturing of the service, presenting the exisiting functionalities in a cleaner and more organized way, and rolling out a number of new features.
The New Media team at Al Jazeera just launched a new citizen journalism platform by the name of
‘Sharek‘ earlier today. (Sharek means contribute or share in Arabic.) Sharek enables users to upload video material that they’ve recorded using their webcams, video cams or mobile phones; reporting the news that is happening around them. Other than uploading content through the website, user media content can also be sent via email or directly from their mobiles.
Dubai based Muslim Heritage Consulting recently launched the world’s first Muslim history image library online. The library, at MuslimHeritageImages.com includes manuscripts from the 10th Century as well as contemporary images of people, architecture and museum artifacts.
Collections telling the story of Muslim civilisation have been brought together from museums, archives and private collections across the world. Many images recreate pivotal moments in history such as pioneering early surgical work carried out in the Middle East centuries before similar treatments were available in Europe.
