The US Embassy in Riyadh will hold visa interviews every Monday with Saudi students intending to pursue higher studies in American universities under the King Abdullah Foreign Scholarship Program. Abdullah Al-Moussa, deputy minister of higher education, welcomed the move, adding that it would speed up the issuing of visas.
Students will be able to know the dates of their interviews by visiting the embassy’s website.
“The American Embassy has shown excellent cooperation with the Higher Education Ministry in solving the problem of obtaining visas,” Al-Moussa said. The embassy distributed visa application forms to scholarship students during the higher education exhibition, which was staged in Riyadh recently. Students, who have received the King Abdullah Scholarship, have previously faced difficulty getting US visas, waiting up to four months to get an appointment for an interview.
