The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) is delighted to announce the agenda for its upcoming “IT Forum: The Challenges and Opportunities of Developing IT in Saudi Arabia” conference to be held at Riyadh’s Four Season Hotel on May 9th 2010.

Aimed at spurring discussion around the development of the information technology industry in Saudi Arabia, the event will provide a platform for IT policy makers, industry leaders, technology thought leaders, and IT end users to examine the current challenges faced in the kingdom and assess the opportunities for the future.

Dr. Abdulrahman A. Al Jafary

The CITC’s Governor, His Excellency, will open the forum by offering an insight into the work of his organization and its role in the IT industry’s development. He will then detail the current state of IT usage in the Kingdom, highlight the key hurdles to IT industry development that must be overcome, and identify opportunities for the future expansion of the industry.

Through a series of in-depth presentations, authoritative panel discussions, interactive question and answer sessions featuring leading industry figures, the forum will go on to tackle the kingdom’s IT industry from all angles.

Representatives from some of the world’s foremost IT vendors will sit alongside senior national education figures as they discuss the need to enable a fast-growing economy and develop a national IT talent pool, and assess the positive impact that knowledge-based industries can have on economic development. A series of end-user case studies will also detail actual implementations of cutting-edge technologies in real-life organizations, highlighting the considerable benefits that can be derived as a result, both to the organization itself and the country as a whole.
